A Look at the New 2017 Subaru Legacy's Powertrain

Every member of our team here at Baxter Subaru is raving about the new 2017 Subaru Legacy because this sedan delivers an extraordinary driving experience! We are so enamored by its terrific performance in fact that we just had to give it the feature spotlight for today's blog. So if you are curious as to what makes this model stand out, then we suggest that you read on!

All versions of the new 2017 Subaru Legacy have a fine-tuned powertrain that achieves excellent results on the road. Of course, depending on whether you drive the entry-level 2.5i or an advanced counterpart such as the 3.6R Limited, its capabilities will vary.

The most apparent difference is the power source at its core. The standard on basic trims is a 2.5L SUBARU BOXER® 4-Cylinder engine, but each progressive level afterwards has the option to be upgraded with a 3.6L SUBARU® BOXER 6-Cylinder engine. Only the 3.6R Limited comes with the superior engine from the start. While the 2.5L engine generates as much as 175-hp and 174 lb-ft of torque, the 3.6L engine generates even more power, exerting out as much as 256-hp and 247 lb-ft of torque. However, though the latter option provides greater strength, the former offers greater efficiency, allowing you to travel up to 34 highway MPG.

Despite this distinction between the engines, every new Subaru Legacy comes with a standardized set of equipment as well. Lineartonic® Continuously Variable Transmission and Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive are just two examples of the technologies you will find under the hood of all models. There is even a Vehicle Dynamics Control system with Active Torque Vectoring. The combination of these components improve stability and handling which in turn translates to a smoother ride.

And to think—this is just a brief overview of its performance specs! There are more details to the new 2017 Subaru Legacy for you to appreciate, so we suggest you drive out from Gretna, La Vista, Fremont, and Blair to our dealership in Omaha, Nebraska, today!
